MEMBERSHIP 1.2 The selection of Honorary Members, if deemed appropriate, shall be made by the Directors onceeach year during the month of January.
1.2 Honorary Members shall have the same rights and privileges as regular Members.
1.3 Honorary Members shall not be required to pay yearly dues. |
Term and Dues
2.1 SSMA Membership shall be for a twelve-month period, beginning with the first full month after receipt of application, and initial payment of dues.
2.2 Dues for Membership renewals are payable in United States dollars on or before the Membership anniversary date. If dues remain unpaid after thirty (30) days, all rights and privileges of SSMA Membership are suspended.
2.3 Annual dues schedule for an individual Adult Membership (18 and over): Within the United States: $20.00 Within Canada: $25.00 Elsewhere: $40.00
2.4 Annual dues schedule for a Family Membership (2 adults, and children 17 and under): Within the United States: $25.00 Within Canada: $30.00 Elsewhere: $50.00
2.5 Annual dues schedule for a Junior Membership (17 and under): Within the United States: $10.00 Within Canada: $13.00 Elsewhere: $20.00
2.6 Annual dues schedule for a Club Membership: Within the United Sates: $25.00 Within Canada: $32.00 Elsewhere: $50.00
2.7 Business Membership dues shall be $25.00 per year. 2.8 Directors shall be exempt from paying dues while in office. |
Board
3.1 A Member may volunteer, or be nominated, to serve as a Director. Save in extraordinary circumstances, a Director may hold one position only.
3.2 The proposed list of Directors will be published in the October edition of The SSMA Journal.
3.3 If a Member or Director knows any reason that a particular nominee should not be allowed to serve as a Director, that reason must be communicated in writing to the National Director before December 31.
3.4 Any Director may be removed from office for good cause by a two-thirds majority of the entire Board of Directors, after written notice has been given to all Directors, and after all Directors have been consulted. This consultation may be conducted at an annual Directors' meeting, or by telephone, or by mail, or by means of electronic communications devices. The Director against whom the action is being taken, or a designated representative, may cause a personal statement to be included in the review process. |
Meetings
4.1 The date, time, and place of Directors' meetings will be established by the National Director in consultation with the other Directors, as provided in Article VI of the SSMA Constitution.
4.2 The National Director may consult any or all Directors by telephone or other electronic means at any time, and without prior notification. Decisions reached by this process will have the same legal status as decisions made when the Directors meet in person.
4.3 The National Director shall act as chairman at all Directors' meetings, and shall be responsible for establishing the agenda.
4.4 The SSMA Journal Director shall act as Secretary, and be responsible for preparation and distribution of Minutes. |
Amendments
5.1 Proposals for amendments to the SSMA Constitution, or to SSMA Bylaws, Policies and Procedures, or for revisions of the SSMA Handbook, may be submitted to the National Director, in writing, at any time, by any SSMA Member in good standing.
5.2 Proposals for amendments will be referred to the other Directors for discussion at a Director's meetings, or by electronic means, or by mail, as provided for in Section 4.2.
5.3 Proposed amendments and revisions will be published in the next edition of The SSMA Journal. Members will have thirty (30) days in which to offer comments or objections. Amendments shall come into effect after the thirty-day period, or as deemed appropriate by the Directors. |
Directors
6.1 The National Director shall oversee all activities of the Association, and provide leadership and direction for the SSMA.
6.2 The Clubs/Membership Director shall process all new membership applications, distribute SSMA general information to prospective members, and be the general contact with the membership. The Clubs/Membership Director shall also maintain the Membership Directory, which will consist of a data base of individuals, clubs and business (associate) members. This data will be organized into a Directory format and distributed to the membership annually.The Clubs/Membership Director will also be responsible for attending to the special needs of SSMA-chartered clubs, and will maintain a data base on all chartered clubs which will include all pertinent information, and will issue official Chartered Club certificates when dues have been paid. The Clubs/Membership Director will also receive all requests for SSMA approval of Regional Events.
6.3 The SSMA Journal Director will prepare and arrange printing and distribution of the quarterly publication, The SSMA Journal. This Director will receive all notices of club events, and publish a list of upcoming events. Included in the March issue will be the updated Membership Directory.
6.4 The Club Insurance Director will make arrangements for the SSMA Insurance Policy, and receive all applications for insurance.
6.5 The Finance Director will be responsible for preparing the annual budget as well as the receiving and paying all bills and invoices, and will publish an abbreviated financial recap in the March issue of The SSMA Journal. Any member in good standing may, given due notice to the Finance Director, inspect the financial statement in the Finance Director's office.
6.6 The Industry Liaison/Advertising Director will establish and maintain contact with the various manufacturers and distributors of hobby materials, and will seek advertising and product descriptions to be published in The SSMA Journal. This Director will maintain a list of products and services likely to be of interest to builders of scale ship models.
6.7 The SSMA Handbook Director shall be responsible for periodic revisions to and up-dating of, the SSMA Handbook, as requested by a majority of the Directors. |
